A Trip To Bandung

29 mar 2008

by sapteka

I wrote this blog to memorize our trip to Bandung City, the capital of West Java Province. I went to Bandung accompanied by Mr. Wiryana and Mr. Dwijendra to attend a workshop and training on Content Development for M-Learning. The workshop was organized by Java Competency Center of ITB from 12 to 17 February 2007.

We flew to Bandung on February 11, 2007 using Adam Air (now Adam Air has been grounded by the Indonesian Government after Indonesian Air Safety Investigators said that pilot error was partially to blame for the crash of an Adam Air). From Denpasar (Ngurah Rai Airport) we flew to Jakarta (Sukarno-Hatta Airport) using PK-KKZ.

It was a nice flight. A took some photographs on board. The picture below is the photograph of Suramadu Bridge. The bridge is connecting Surabaya (Java Island) and Madura Island. It is still under construction.

The plane was landed safely at Jakarta. After looking for information at the airport, we bought a ticket of Primajasa (an express bus to Bandung). It cost Rp 60.000. We had to wait for an hour before the bus arrived. The Primajasa bus was on time and equipped with air condition, audio-visual system, toilet and smoking room. Afterwards, We continued the trip to Bandung. It took about 3 hours from Sukarno-Hatta airport to Bandung using Primajasa.

After traveling about 180 km via Jakarta – Bandung toll road, the bus arrived at Bandung Super Mal (BSM). The mal is located at Jalan Gatot Subroto, Bandung. It was very impressive mal with two dragons exterior along its parking way to celebrate Chinese New Year.

At moment we didn’t interest to go inside. We thought that we could go to this mal next day. The first thing to do was to find a nice hotel to stay. we brought our suitcase and looked for Blue Bird Taxi in front of the mal. As traveler, I suggest you to use Blue Bird if you have a city trip in Indonesia. The driver was polite and the cab was comfort. I asked the driver to help me finding the hotel. At last we decided to stay at Progo Hotel located at Jalan Progo, Bandung. The rate was Rp 150,000 for superior room. The room was very clean and we loved to stay here and it was able to prepare vegetarian food for breakfast. The workshop location was about 5 minute walks from Progo Hotel.

Durian fruit is my favorite fruit in Bandung. It was delicious with fine aroma. I bought it at Jalan Banda, Bandung. It cost Rp 5,000.

I always brought it to hotel and ate it there while work.

There were many delman at Jalan Ganesha, Bandung. It was a chariot with four wheels. Tourist used it while sightseeing around ITB.

It was time to go back to Bali. Although there were direct flights to Denpasar from Bandung, we got Batavia Air tickets that departed from Jakarta to Bali. So we had had to go back to Jakarta using Primajasa express bus. The bus station was located at BSM. This 11,000 meter square mall was full of high-class outlets such as: Guess, Marks & Spencers, Esprit, and Metro Department Store. BSM was not different with Plaza Senayan or Plaza Indonesia in Jakarta.

The bus departed from BSM at 15.00 p.m. and arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport at 19.00 p.m. due to the traffic.  We flew using Batavia Air to Denpasar (Ngurah Rai Airport). Well, It was a nice trip Bandung.
